Bring Your Dream Project to Life: Teaching, Training and Presenting

My mission:

I aspire to help create a world in which all therapists feel comfortable working sex and relational issues, and with consensual non-monogamy in therapy. I aspire to help create a world in which all therapists have access to the training they need in order to do so with accuracy, skill, and confidence. To this end, I write, speak, teach, and create online and in-person learning opportunities.

Scholarship statement:

I am aware that some of the most amazing and deserving helping professionals in the world may not have the ability to pay the full fee for my course. I recognize and strongly value the diversity that people from all walks of life bring to my courses, including early-career professionals, members of historically marginalized groups, people undergoing financial hardship, and citizens of countries with a disadvantaged exchange rate with the USA. For those reasons, I strive to offer a limited number of reduced-fee scholarships.

However, any in-person retreat comes with high overhead costs, and that’s particularly true for a nurturing, small-group experience, like the one we have planned. Therefore, scholarship funds are extremely limited. We do not have the resources to offer full-ride scholarships. We hope to be able to offer some reduced-fee scholarships (around 5% to 20% off the price of the retreat), but it will depend on how many people enroll; we don’t yet know how much funding we will have available.

The scholarship application process will take some time, and there is no guarantee the spots will still be open once decisions have been made. If you would prefer to secure your spot and forgo the scholarship application process, you can do that by enrolling in the course.

Who is the ideal applicant?

The ideal applicant:

  • Is committed to expanding their skills to include teaching, training and presenting.
  • Knows why they want to take my course, and what they will do with the information and support they gain.
  • Is excited about the opportunity to take the course.
  • Has ideas about how they will pay it forward.
  • Wants to make a difference in their community and the world.

How to decide if you should apply:

Our scholarships are intended to benefit students who truly need them. Before you apply, we ask that you consider carefully. Because we have limited scholarship funds, if you are able to afford the list price, please leave the funds for someone else.

Application process:

Please write out your responses to the following prompts, devoting no more than a paragraph to each question, and email to [email protected]. Please include the name and dates of the retreat.

  • Why do you want to attend the retreat?
  • How do you plan to use the knowledge you gain from this course to benefit yourself and your community?
  • How do you plan to participate in, and nurture, the community of helping professionals who are taking the training this year?
  • Please explain to me why you think you qualify for a reduced fee.

Decision-making process:

My team and I make all decisions regarding reduced-fee scholarships, and those decisions are final. My team and I will confirm receipt of your application, and let you know the outcome as soon as we are able.
