Reduced-Fee Scholarship Information and Application
My mission:
I aspire to help create a world in which all therapists feel comfortable discussing sex in therapy, and in which all have access to the training they need in order to do so with accuracy, skill, and confidence. To this end, I write, speak, teach, and create online and in-person learning opportunities.
Why I offer scholarships:
I am aware that some of the most amazing and deserving helping professionals in the world may not have the ability to pay the full fee for my consulting groups. I recognize and strongly value the diversity that people from all walks of life bring to the consulting groups, including early-career professionals, members of historically marginalized groups, people undergoing financial hardship, and citizens of countries with a disadvantaged exchange rate with the USA. For those reasons, I offer a limited number of reduced-fee scholarships.
Who is the ideal applicant?
The ideal applicant is:
- Is committed to expanding their skill in working with sex issues.
- Knows why they want to join the consulting group, and what they will do with the information and support they gain.
- Is excited about the opportunity to join the ATSIP 2 community.
- Has ideas about how they will pay it forward.
- Is interested in being an active part of the online learning community for the next eight months (and possibly beyond).
- Wants to make a difference in their community and the world.
How to decide if you should apply:
Sliding scale scholarships are intended to benefit students who truly need them. Before you apply, I ask that you consider carefully. Because we have a limited number of slots at the middle and lower end of the scale, we ask you to consider that if you purchase a course at the lower end of the scale when you can honestly afford the higher prices, you are reducing the spots available to those who truly need them. If you are able to afford the list price, please leave the spot for someone else.
Sliding scale tiers:
Take the time to carefully consider what you can honestly afford. Would paying for the course mean cutting back on extraneous spending for a while, or would it cut in to your ability to provide for your basic needs? Will becoming more effective working with sex issues pay for itself in the form of being able to keep several clients you otherwise would have needed to refer?
Honestly assessing where you fall enables us to offer as many scholarships as possible to those who need them. It also helps to support the continuance of my work, and allows me to invest more time in building a strong community and creating low-cost and accessible resources.

Purchasing power parity:

Application process:
Please write out your responses to the following prompts, devoting no more than a paragraph to each question, and email to [email protected].
- Why do you want to take my online course, Assessing and Treating Sex Issues in Psychotherapy Level 2?
- How do you plan to use the knowledge and support you gain from this course to benefit yourself and your community?
- How do you plan to participate in, and nurture, the online community of helping professionals who are taking the course this year?
- Do you have at least 3 hours/week (on average) of time available to devote to the course?
- Please explain to me why you think you qualify for a reduced fee, and tell me which tier you are applying for.
Decision-making process:
My team and I make all decisions regarding reduced-fee scholarships, and those decisions are final. My team and I will confirm receipt of your application, and let you know the outcome as soon as we are able.
Duration:
If you are approved for a scholarship, your scholarship rate will be valid for two years. After two years, I will ask you to reevaluate your situation and reapply. I will ask you to consider whether your practice has grown or your rates have increased as a result of what you’re learning in the consulting group, and whether your financial situation would allow you to shift to another tier, potentially opening a scholarship opportunity for another participant.
